Our trekkers completed Machu Picchu 2017

Our trekkers completed Machu Picchu 2017

The adventure begins for our 32 trekkers.

Classic FM’s John Suchet and a team of Classic FM listeners are off on their ten-day trek to the lost city of Machu Picchu – all to raise money for Global’s Make Some Noise.

The team will be visiting one of the seven wonders of the world, the stunning Lost City of the Incas and trekking through the Peruvian Andes at an altitude of up to 4,600 metres above sea level.

They’ll be rewarded with awe-inspiring views and let’s not forget, the chance to spot alpacas and llamas roaming along the way.

We’ll be sharing updates as they go, so keep checking back for some stunning photos and to follow their journey with us.

DAY 1

The team touched down in the ancient Inca Capital of Cusco, located 3,350 metres above sea level.

DAY 2

They spent the following day acclimatising to the altitude

…and made some friends along the way.

DAY 3

The team went on a three-hour acclimatisation walk around Cusco.

The Inca trail to Machu Picchu increases in altitude through mountain passes, so it was important for the team to fully acclimatise before setting off.

DAY 4

Our trekkers were treated to a musical send off for their first big day of hiking the following morning – the long-awaited Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

DAY 5

Up bright and early, the team had a long hike to Huacahuasi where they spent the night camping near a river.

DAY 6

A big hello from the team as they reach the highest point of the trek at 4,600 metres above sea level.

The team will reach Machu Picchu tomorrow.

DAY 7

They did it! The team reached Machu Picchu – just look at that view! 😮
