Sadly, over 2,000 children in the West Midlands are bereaved of a parent each year. Global’s Make Some Noise is proud to be able to support Edward’s Trust – a charity established to provide support to those who have lost someone special.
Children like Abigail, who has been receiving support from Edward’s Trust following the loss of her mum over a year ago. She’s been attending the project weekly with her dad, where she receives 1-to-1 counselling, as well as the chance to go on trips with other young people who understand what she’s going through.
She said: “We’ve been to Drayton Manor and I had the best time, it was great to meet other kids like me. I’m the only one at school without a mum and that’s upsetting, but knowing there are others like me helps a lot.
I’m not sure I understood what a counsellor was, but they are like a family at Edward’s Trust and I can trust my counsellor with anything. She is always there to listen and to help me. I’ve made memory jars, poetry and I’m putting a book together about my mummy, me, and my feelings. I can talk about things much more easily now. I could not even say her name in the beginning or what had happened.”
With your donations, Global’s Make Some Noise will to be able to fund bereavement counseling at the project, to help even more children and young people coping with the loss of a loved one.
