KEEN is a charity which runs weekly sports sessions in Camden, Hackney and Lambeth to empower children and young people with disabilities – giving them the skills and confidence to enjoy a wide range of physical activities.
The charity supports over 150 young people from the ages of 5-23 with over 6,000 hours of one-to-one support every year.
We’re proud to support KEEN because of the work it does with young people like Sarah. Sarah has autism and muscular dystrophy. When Sarah joined KEEN in 2014 she was very reliant on the support provided by the coaches and would often take long breaks during group activities. The sessions have helped Sarah gain determination to take on tasks independently.
Recently, Sarah overcame one of her fears and flew down a 10-metre-high zip-wire – something she never could have done just a few years ago. Her enthusiasm has continued through all of KEEN’s activities, inspiring other young people with disabilities to reach their full potential too.
Global’s Make Some Noise is supporting the charity to deliver the ‘Keen in East London’ project, which will help boost provisions for children with disabilities in Hackney. The project includes Saturday sessions for 5-25 year olds and one-to-one support for over 90 children every year.
