2016/17: Move On

Move On works to improve the lives of vulnerable young people and those affected by homelessness in Glasgow and Edinburgh. The charity helps by supporting and empowering them to raise their aspirations, increase confidence, take control over their own futures and achieve their goals.

The young people supported by Move On are, or have been, young carers, care-experienced or homeless, and lack positive relationships with the important adults in their lives.  They often aren’t engaged in school, training or employment, and lack belief in their ability to make positive changes in their lives. But, this brilliant projects offers a safe and friendly space where trust and respect is built, allowing young people to grow aspirations, learn new skills and try new things.

Global’s Make Some Noise will support their mentoring service for 40 young people aged up to 25. It’s hoped that from this, over half will progress into employment, training or education, with most benefiting from increased confidence and improved social networks.

Leighanne is just one of the young people who has been involved with Move On. She said: “I have been really well supported with a lot of problems that I have had. I feel like I can talk to them about anything. I really enjoy being a part of Move On because it has helped me out in all different ways. I wish it didn’t need to end when the time comes.”
