Global’s Make Some Noise is supporting charities like New Step for African Community (NESTAC), which provides a range of services aimed to improve health and wellbeing, supporting communities and helping people thrive.
NESTAC works to empower the disadvantaged population within the Black and Minority Ethnic communities.
Their experienced staff and peer mentors invest in young people, giving them the skills and confidence to become role models and youth leaders within their communities and beyond.
They create platforms for young people, for women and for men to be able to speak up and learn about the importance of living in a cohesive society, where their rights as human beings are respected.
In response to the devastating impact that the Coronavirus has had on the BAME Community, NESTAC have launched a vital new helpline to support people that are self-isolating, bereaved or worried about a friend or relative.
They are also supporting women and girls that have been the victim of abuse or violence during the pandemic.
The charity can provide advice, training and support in many different languages, this is essential for members of the community that are at a disadvantage because English is not their first language. We are proud to support such a vital service.
Like many small charities, NESTAC has seen a drop in income and funding since the start of coronavirus and are currently running this service with their charity savings. The team are all working extra hours supported by some incredible volunteers.
