We teamed up with our friends at giffgaff to help people and the planet
At Make Some Noise, we champion small charity projects changing lives in communities across the UK. And this year, we’re proud to join forces with giffgaff | Certified B Corp on a purpose-led partnership that supports people, protects the planet, and helps drive a more sustainable future for us all.
Making every brief count
As part of the Ad Net Zero “Every Brief Counts” initiative, giffgaff and Global’s Make Some Noise teamed up to tackle one of the UK’s fastest-growing environmental challenges: e-waste. Across the country, millions of unused mobile phones are left forgotten in drawers or discarded entirely.
Together, we built a campaign encouraging people to choose tech more consciously. The partnership ran across Radio X and Capital XTRA, with on-air and digital content, shining a light on the power of choosing refurbished phones and responsibly recycling old devices through giffgaff recycle. Small switches that add up to a big difference.
Giving tech a second life
Buying refurbished is all about giving perfectly good tech a second chance. That means less e-waste, fewer materials ending up in landfill, and a more circular future for mobile devices. It’s a simple change that protects the planet and helps communities thrive. Thanks to this partnership, even more people across the UK have been inspired to embrace sustainable tech choices.
Research findings
The impact of the campaign has been clear. Independent research showed that almost 1 in 2 listeners recalled hearing the ads, and those who did were significantly more likely to consider choosing refurbished. The activity drove a 41% uplift in overall consideration of giffgaff, alongside major increases in confidence around refurbished tech. The message didn’t just land, it changed behaviour. An incredible 94% of listeners who recalled the campaign said they intended to take action, from exploring refurbished options to recycling old devices. The campaign also helped shift public perceptions around refurbished phones, with listeners far more likely to say the ads encouraged them to choose refurbished and made the process feel simple and trustworthy.
Supporting people in our local communities
We’re so grateful for giffgaff’s generous £50,000 donation to Make Some Noise - helping us fund life-changing projects that ensure no one has to face life’s toughest challenges alone. Their support is already making an impact through projects like:
‘Digital Pathways’ at Skills Enterprise
Providing digital skills training and AI-based employment support for people living in poverty, helping them build confidence and access new opportunities.
‘Staying Connected’ at Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind
A digital inclusion programme empowering people with sight loss to stay connected, live more independently, and feel part of their community.
A huge thank you to giffgaff for their generosity, their values, and their commitment to people and the planet. Together, we’re proving that we can create real, meaningful change.
