GLOBAL'S MAKE SOME NOISE - AJ BELL GREAT SCOTTISH RUN FUNDRAISER TERMS AND CONDITIONS
These terms (Terms) apply when you sign up to raise money for Global's Make Some Noise, the appeal operated by Global Charities (Charity, we, us or our).
By signing up, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not sign up.
- WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING UP TO
1.1. You are signing up to take part in, and join, the Heart's Half-Marathon Heroes team to raise money for the Charity in connection with the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run due to take place on Sunday 4 October 2026 (Event).
1.2. The Event is run by The Great Run Company Limited (EventOrganiser ), not by the Charity. Signing up with us does not register you for the Event. To take part, you must register separately with the Event Organiser and accept their terms.
1.3. These Terms cover only your fundraising for the Charity.
2. APPLICATIONS AND ACCEPTANCE
2.1. To sign up you must be at least 17 years old, give us accurate and complete information, and meet our Charity Fundraiser selection criteria set out in clause 3 below.
2.2. The number of charity places available for the Event is fifty (50).
2.3. Applications open on 27 July 2026 and close on 14 August 2026, unless all available charity places are allocated earlier. If all available places are allocated before the closing date, we may close applications early.
2.4. Applications may be reviewed on a rolling basis from the date applications open. Eligible applicants may be assessed and offered a charity place before the closing date, so applicants are encouraged to apply early. Submitting an application does not guarantee you a place.
2.5. We will notify all applicants who have not previously received an outcome of the outcome of their application by 19th August 2026.
2.6. We may decline or withdraw your place as a Charity fundraiser at any time if:
a. we reasonably consider that you are not a good fit for, or could harm, the reputation, values or brand of the Charity or Global's Make Some Noise;
b. you have given us false or misleading information;
c. you breach these Terms; or
d. we reasonably consider it necessary to protect the Charity, its beneficiaries, its supporters or the public.
2.7. This does not affect your separate registration with the Event Organiser, which is between you and them.
3. HOW WE SELECT FUNDRAISERS
3.1. This clause sets out how we select fundraisers for our charity places when we receive more eligible applications than we have places available. It is designed to make our decisions fair, consistent, transparent and lawful, and to give us a clear record of how each decision was made.
3.2. To be considered for a place, an applicant must:
a. be at least 17 years old (or any higher age required by the Event Organiser);
b. provide accurate and complete information in their application;
c. confirm they are willing to use reasonable efforts to raise the £300 fundraising target; and
d. confirm they will separately register for the Event with the Event Organiser and meet the Event Organiser's own requirements.
3.3. Applicants who do not meet every requirement in clause 3.2 will not be considered further. If we still have more eligible applicants than places, we will select between them using the scoring criteria in clause 3.4.
3.4. We will assess each eligible applicant against the following criteria:
a. their reasons for wanting to take part and join Heart's Half-Marathon Heroes team;
b. their commitment to using reasonable efforts to raise the £300 fundraising target and the extent to which they have considered how they might approach their fundraising; and
c. their readiness to take part in and prepare for the Event, based on the information provided about their running experience. Previous half-marathon experience is not required, and first-time runners will not be disadvantaged solely because they are new to the distance.
3.5. Each criterion is scored from 0 (does not meet) to 3 (strongly meets). The maximum total score is 9.
3.6. Where two or more applicants being considered at the same time have the same score and there are not enough places available for all of them, we will decide between those applicants by a random ballot.
3.7. Being willing to share a fundraising or event story publicly is entirely optional. It will not count for or against any applicant when we decide who receives a place, unless we have clearly told applicants otherwise for a particular campaign.
3.8. The final selection decision will be made by a member of our staff, and not by automated means alone.
3.9. In applying these criteria, we will:
a. not select or reject any applicant because of a protected characteristic, namely age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation;
b. apply the criteria consistently to every eligible applicant;
c. treat the fundraising and target-related criteria as one factor among several, and never as an automatic bar, recognising that they could unintentionally disadvantage some applicants (for example, those on lower incomes); and
d. make reasonable adjustments where an applicant is disabled, both to the application process and to how we assess their fundraising, and make any reasonable adjustment to the application process that a disabled applicant tells us they need.
3.10. Before applications open we will finalise and keep a copy of these criteria and the scoring scale. For each applicant, we will keep a short written record of their score and the reason they were, or were not, offered a place, and we will retain these records for 12 months in case of any query or complaint.
4. OFFERS
4.1. We will tell each applicant whether they have been offered a place by the date in clause 2.5.
4.2. Offering a place does not register the applicant for the Event; they must still register separately with the Event Organiser.
4.3. If a selected applicant withdraws or does not confirm their place by the confirmation deadline we notify to them, we may offer the place to the next highest-scoring eligible applicant.
5. YOUR FUNDRAISING
5.1. You agree to use reasonable efforts to raise at least £300 for the Charity in connection with the Event (Fundraising Target). This is a goal to aim for, not a fee for taking part or a debt you owe the Charity.
5.2. You agree to:
a. pay all money you raise to the Charity as soon as possible, and no later than two (2) weeks after the Event, using the payment method we tell you about;
b. not deduct any costs, expenses or fees from that money; and
c. use that money only to donate it to the Charity.
5.3. Any registration or entry fee you pay the Event Organiser is separate and does not count towards the Fundraising Target.
5.4. Registration or entry fees are not eligible for Gift Aid. Any personal donation you make may be eligible for Gift Aid, subject to HMRC rules. Sponsors wishing to add Gift Aid to their donations must make a valid Gift Aid declaration and meet HMRC's eligibility requirements.
5.5. You must fundraise honestly, lawfully and responsibly, in a way that reflects well on the Charity. In particular, you must:
a. make clear to donors that you are raising money "in aid of" the Charity, not acting on its behalf or as its representative;
b. not pressure anyone to donate, and treat everyone, especially anyone vulnerable, with respect;
c. follow all applicable laws, any fundraising guidance we give you, and the Code of Fundraising Practice; and
d. not do anything that could damage or bring into disrepute the Charity or Global's Make Some Noise.
5.6. You may use the Charity's name and any fundraising materials or branding we provide to you for the purpose of your fundraising. You must not alter the Charity's logo or branding, or use it in any other way, without our prior written approval.
6. LIABILITY
6.1. You acknowledge that:
a. the Event is organised, managed and run entirely by the Event Organiser, not the Charity;
b. the Charity has no responsibility for or control over the Event, including its safety, facilities, cancellation or postponement;
c. the Charity gives no warranty about the Event, and anything relating to it is between you and the Event Organiser; and
d. you take part at your own risk, under your separate agreement with the Event Organiser.
6.2. So far as the law allows, the Charity is not liable to you for any loss, damage, injury, cost or expense arising out of or in connection with the Event or your participation in it.
6.3. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by the Charity's negligence, or for fraud.
7. CANCELLING
7.1. Because you sign up online, you may cancel with the Charity within 14 days of signing up, without giving a reason. To cancel, just tell us using the contact details in clause 10.1 below.
7.2. Cancelling with the Charity does not cancel your registration with the Event Organiser. To cancel your place in the Event, contact the Event Organiser and follow their terms.
7.3. Cancelling does not affect your obligation to pass on any money you have already collected, unless a donor asks for and is entitled to a refund.
8. DATA PROTECTION
8.1. We will use the information you give us to consider your application and, if you are successful, to support you through the Event and your fundraising. We will not use it for marketing. Global and Global's Make Some Noise are responsible for your information, and you can read more about how we look after it in our privacy policies at [https://global.com/legal/privacy-policy/] and [https://www.makesomenoise.com/privacy-policy].
8.2. Our lawful basis for processing basic application data such as name and contact details is our legitimate interest in running a fair and open selection process.
8.3. Please do not provide any special category data, such as any detailed information relating to your, or another person's, health, in your response to the question "reasons for wanting to take part and join Heart's Half-Marathon Heroes team". Such information will not be considered as part of the selection criteria.
8.4. Where an applicant provides special category data (for example, health information given as a request for reasonable adjustments) we will make sure we have both a lawful basis and a separate condition for processing, such as explicit consent.
8.5. We may share your application data with Global group companies in order to administer the application and fundraising, in accordance with the privacy policies referred to in clause 8.1 above.
8.6. If your application is successful and you go on to register for the Event itself, that part is run by the Event Organiser, The Great Run Company Limited, so please review their terms and conditions and privacy policy too.
8.7. We may ask to use your name, image, story and fundraising details to promote the Charity. We will only do so with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by contacting us using the contact details in clause 10.1 below.
8.8. We will always handle your personal data in accordance with data protection law.
9. GENERAL
9.1. We may update these Terms. If we make a significant change before the Event, we will tell you.
9.2. If any part of these Terms is invalid, the rest will continue to apply.
9.3. These Terms are the whole agreement between you and the Charity about your fundraising for the Charity.
9.4. These Terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and you and the Charity submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
