Marking its thirteenth appeal, this Make Some Noise Day, Global presenters including Vicky Pattison, Kemi Rodgers and Des Clarke have undertaken a variety of physical challenges to inspire donations from listeners. Covering roads and rivers from Scotland to London, they’ve shed blood, sweat and tears to complete their challenges and raise money for Make Some Noise.
The money will fund vital community projects at small, local charities across the UK, delivering essential support to those facing life’s toughest challenges.
Heart’s fundraising campaign - Vicky Pattison’s Tyne to Thames Challenge - saw Vicky take on a staggering 250-mile journey across land and water. Vicky cycled, kayaked and ran from her home city of Newcastle, travelling through York, Sheffield, Nottingham and Leicester all the way down to London in just five days.
Capital’s Kemi Rodgers was put through her paces with intense military-style drills and training exercises, testing her strength, stamina and mental resilience as she prepared for a surprise final challenge - abseiling down London’s Cutty Sark, despite being terrified of heights!
Over on Heart Scotland, Breakfast host Des Clarke was joined by a team of 70 Heart Scotland listeners as he ran 13.1 miles through the streets of Glasgow to become a Heart Half Marathon Hero.
Simon Pitts, Group CEO of Global, said: “Make Some Noise Day is always a brilliant reminder of what we can achieve when we come together. Teams from across the whole of Global, alongside our listeners and commercial partners, have come together to put the work of these remarkable small charities firmly in the spotlight. The incredible creativity, generosity and commitment from Globallers and audiences has made a real difference, helping to support communities across the UK. A huge thank you to everyone who played their part, donated and helped us make some noise.”
Suzanne Ryder Richardson, Director of Global Goodness, Global’s Make Some Noise, added: “The response to this year’s Global’s Make Some Noise appeal has been incredible. From Vicky Pattison’s mammoth Tyne to Thames challenge and Kemi Rodgers taking on a Commando Challenge, to Des Clarke’s Heart Half Marathon Heroes, our presenters, partners and listeners have thrown themselves into fundraising, showing extraordinary determination and generosity to support essential local services delivered by small charities across the UK.
“The money raised will help fund vital projects providing lifelines in communities all across the UK. A huge thank you to everyone who’s got involved, donated and helped us make a difference. There’s still time to give and help ensure no one faces life’s toughest challenges alone.”
