Southside Family Project

Southside Family Project
Global’s Make Some Noise is supporting charities like Southside, which is working hard to support families dealing with the impact of trauma because of violence.

Based in Bath and North East SomersetSouthside Charity are helping families facing complex difficulties such as domestic abuse, debt, addiction, mental ill-health and/or homelessness.

Many lives have been turned upside down by coronavirus and the lockdown has seen families like Mum, *Sue and 7-year-old *Tom face new difficulties.

Both have experienced emotional and physical domestic abuse and Sue has severe mental health difficulties. These combined with English being their second language makes breaking down barriers hard when seeking help.

Southside stepped in and worked with the family, after initially focusing on therapeutic activities, since coronavirus, the charity have considerably increased their emotional and practical support for the family. After 8 charity funded therapeutic play sessions, Sue now takes regular medication, her son’s behaviour has drastically improved and the two have a much better relationship.
