SWACA (Sefton Women and Children’s Aid) in Liverpool does amazing work helping women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
SWACA provides professional support to over 650 young people each year, helping them to regain control over their lives, safe from the risk of further incidents of domestic abuse.
We believe the charity deserves to have its voice heard because of the work it does with young people like Lisa, who lives with her mum and dad and has witnessed domestic abuse. When Lisa first joined SWACA, she was very open about the struggles she faced at home and told the charity that she would often self-harm as a way of coping with her emotions.
SWACA’s Children’s Workers provided one-to-one sessions in school, to support Lisa. Lisa told the charity that the support has really helped her, as she had someone to speak to at times when she was struggling. She said that she now has a positive relationship with her parents and wants this to continue and to get stronger.
Global’s Make Some Noise is proud to support SWACA’s new Young Person’s Caseworker, who focus on helping children and young people affected by domestic abuse develop healthier relationships, manage risky situations and keep safe from harm and improve their emotional well-being.
