Over 90,000 children in Scotland live in extreme poverty. With Kids work to reach those families and children who are often not picked up by other services and are suffering from isolation within their community.
The charity work across the central belt of Scotland including West Lothian, Glasgow and Edinburgh to support families and children in their local communities. At least half of the children they work with live in the 15% most seriously deprived areas of Scotland.
They support over 700 children a year and their families by working directly with schools and parents to provide therapeutic support through play therapy, social skills groups and family workshops. Their aim is to improve the life-chances of children from seriously deprived backgrounds in Scotland.
Global’s Make Some Noise are proud to support the extension of With Kids’ Children’s Zone project in Edinburgh. Global’s Makse Some Noise funding means the Children’s Zone can expand into the Hailesland area of Edinburgh and support at least a further 190 children and young people over a year.
The project will create a system of parent support groups, afterschool children’s groups, activity days, cooking workshops and parent and children relationship development work. The Children’s Zone extension will also provide individual support to parents to build their confidence and skills as care-givers.
Funding will also include the recruitment of 1 new member of staff for With Kids in a Community Development role who will run 3 groups per week as well as providing family support throughout the week to families in need.
