Global’s Make Some Noise – the official charity of Global, the Media & Entertainment group – today hosted its annual Spring Reception at the House of Lords, to recognise some of the valuable partners, donors and fundraisers, who, in the latest grant round, have enabled the charity to issue funds totalling over £2.9 million for life-changing projects in local communities across the UK.

The grants will provide a vital lifeline in communities, funding projects delivered by small charities, tackling issues such as mental health, poverty and homelessness.   Delivering on the charity’s continued mission that nobody in the UK should face life’s toughest challenges alone.

Emily Maitlis, co-host of The News Agents podcast, said:

“When we talk about 4.5 million children growing up in poverty, this isn’t just a statistic – each one is a story of a real life, real pain, and real need. Behind every headline statistic is someone struggling – whether it’s a young person affected by knife crime, an older adult facing days of loneliness, or someone living in fear of domestic abuse. These problems are happening in every corner of the UK. And while the headlines may move on, it’s the projects funded by Global’s Make Some Noisethat stay, that show up, and that make a real difference – offering lifelines where they’re needed most.”

Every year, grants are awarded to small charities across the country to help fund the vital services they offer. Since its launch in 2014, Global’s Make Some Noise has supported 527 incredible local community projects and made a life-changing difference to over 227,000 people across the UK.

The funds distributed by Global’s Make Some Noise this year will provide support to over 27,000 people across the UK through essential services including counselling sessions, emergency food parcels, evening and late night mental health support as well as hygiene and personal care packs.

Simon Pitts, Global’s Group CEO, said:

“Global’s mission is To Make Everyone’s Day Brighter but we know that for many people across the UK, every day just isn’t that bright. That’s where Global’s Make Some Noise comes in, funding incredible projects that step up with compassion, care and vital support. Seeing first-hand the impact of these projects has been inspiring, and that’s down to the amazing efforts of our charity partners, supporters, our listeners and our people. I’m excited for the year ahead as we continue raising funds for these vital projects.”

Suzanne Ryder Richardson, Director of Global Goodness at Global, said:

“The continued generosity of partners, fundraisers, volunteers, and listeners has made it possible for 27,000 more people across the UK to receive the vital support they need. Our generous supporters are the driving force behind every grant we can award, every service we can fund, and every life we can change. This year, we saw a record number of applications for our funding, a clear and urgent reflection of the pressure facing UK communities right now. The local projects we fund provide a vital lifeline, stepping in where no other support exists.  As millions of people across the UK continue to face incredibly tough circumstances, we’ll keep working tirelessly to raise the funds and awareness needed so that no one across the UK has to face life’s toughest challenges alone.”
