“When we were told there was no heartbeat... Our world literally turned upside down"

Ryan and his wife Amy set up The Lily Mae Foundation in 2012, following the loss of their daughter at 37 weeks’ gestation.

“When we were told there was no heartbeat… Our world literally turned upside down. No words, nothing at that moment in time could have made anything any better. The worst moment a parent could ever go through.”

The Lily Mae Foundation provides support to families who have lost a baby, and Ryan specialises in care for the dads. The charity also has its own podcast ‘Still Parents’ which Ryan co-hosts and talks openly through the emotions of losing his daughter Lily, with the hope of reducing stigma around the loss.

“It does makes me proud, because this is her legacy. Lily does still live on, but she also goes on to help so many other people.”

Global’s Make Some Noise will be funding The Lily Mae Foundation’s ‘Still Dads’ project for one year, a programme of bereavement support, particularly helping dads, following the loss of their baby.
