On Saturday 14th March the annual ACLT (African Carribbean Leukaemia Trust) donor drive was hosted by Capital XTRA at Global’s headquarters in Leicester Square, London.
ACLT specialises in recruiting stem cell (bone marrow), blood and organ donors from diverse ethnic minority communities to UK donor registries. If you are African Carribean, and are in need of a stem cell transplant, you have less than a 20% chance of finding the best possible match, so the drive was a fantastic opportunity to increase the number of those registered.
The drive was a great success, with ACLT registering 117 new potential bone marrow donors aged 17 to 55 throughout the day, 55 of whom also agreed to become new blood donors and 35 who joined the organ donors register.
A massive thank you to everyone who joined us, including George The Poet, Percelle Ascott (below), Joivan Wade (below) and Capital XTRA’s Kojo (top picture), Abrantee (above), and E-Plus.
